http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=429507#4783219, might be sth for the news, dunno. --Alinor 18:35, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] equipment template supress lootdb images
Greetings Uberfuzzy. Do you happen to know if there is a way to supress the lootdb auto-image linking (besides linking to an image on wikia)? I'm just looking for something as a stop gap until I can get updated images here since some of their stuff is out-of-date and causing confusion. --Lordebon 16:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Currently, no. I'll look into writing one in very soon. I'm sorry that it does not help you in this situation. we're also working with the admins at LootDB for a way for users to mark items on their server to scanned and a new image generated. --Uberfuzzy 03:13, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Skills/Masteries
Can you check out the skills/masteries convo over on my talk page and weigh in on the issue?--Kodia 12:07, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Bannd on Sporepedia?
I have been banned on sporepedia. This has carried over to central as well, so I am trying to contact you through your main wiki. I have been banned, and I am not sure why. If it is this IP, I will note I am using a public computer and will use my home one if nessecary. However, if it is a problem with Me/my username, I would like a better explanation as I have done nothing wrong to my knowledge. Please get back to me on this.
- You havent been blocked directly, atleast from any of the logs i can see. It is very likely that the public computer's IP is blocked. Can you tell me what block ID number it gave you? --Uberfuzzy 12:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] re:Transcendent Aid
thank you. :> I did a basic page and will fill in the rest after i get the details when i go online (at work atm).
- no problem --Uberfuzzy 20:47, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] I need another spell added to a spell line
I need another spell added the the mystic savior spell line, i created the page already.
Ancestral Savior - http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Ancestral_Savior
Thanks Maxus k 21:10, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] another fix
tried clicking report a problem from several pages and it goes into lala land, so here goes.
The revive line for mystic doesnt show for the following
8 - Revive http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Revive
22 - Path of the Grey http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Path_of_the_Grey
36 - Fields of the Grey http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Fields_of_the_Grey
50 - Recall of the Grey http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Recall_of_the_Grey
otherwise they are ok, but figured for consistency sake.
Thanks again. Maxus k 21:54, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] patch notes
Now you can't see the patch notes anymore. The link to the SoE page is not working. Please return the patch notes I put in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mistrornge (talk • contribs)
- They where posted at Category:LU50 instead of LU50
- wikify was missing fully
- The input was only Copy/paste and the not actuall Patch Notes from forum :/
- I suggest to wait till they are on forum posted offical

I know it's a Bot, but wasn't there a B in recent changes normaly when a bot made an edit?
Only asking because the recent change list got really long today :( -- Chillispike 16:55, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- ah crap, i didnt even see that, i assumed it was still hidden, crap crap, sorry guys, looks like i have to make sure i manually set that flag, i'm sorry, fixing code now before next run >< --Uberfuzzy 16:57, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Left Nav Navigation Error
I can't seem where to find how to edit the left navigation, otherwise I would do it myself. The "Factions" link in the left nav goes to http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Faction when it should go to http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Factions or http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Factions. Happy hunting and see you on Blackburrow.
[edit] Shadow AAs
Is there any way that I could help get the info on the Shadow AA tree to the wiki? I can't find any info on that tree here, so I assume there isn't a template for it yet. I'd love to participate in some way, even if it's just making a bunch of alts to look at their AAs. Cantidosama 02:16, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- The most I have seen so far is Category:Coercer Shadow AAs. There's been some discussion as to whether they should should be "Shadows" AAs to match in-game, but Shadow (no s) seems to be the current rule, so you should be able to make them that way. If you don't want to mess around with the wiki bit, you can take screenies, host them on say flickr or some other hosting and then link to them with the wikify template line so someone will come around and hit them with some wikicode goodness =) --lordebon 04:25, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- strange, i didnt get that 1st notice, but i did get this one... strange. anyway, dont worry about the shadow(s) stuff, thats all handled by the template, and we can change that later. right now, just create the pages, use the AA template, and fill stuff. if its a new TSO aa, make sure to set
shadow=y, so it does the name/class/stuff checking differently. --Uberfuzzy 06:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)- One more thing: every subclass AA line has an end ability that gives a suffix title. The templates seem to only display the title given as a prefix. Cantidosama 23:19, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- You are correct. The current behavior for the template is to assume the given title is a prefix (since that is all that there was from AAs before TSO). My suggestion (to Uberfuzzy) would be to add a new param titletype which defaults to prefix but when is =suffix changes the word Prefix to Suffix in that line. --lordebon 01:16, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
- Oh wow, i didnt even notice one was prefix and one was suffix, my highest toon hasnt broken 120 AA so i had not looked that much at the lower ones in detail.
titletypenow supported in the aa template. --Uberfuzzy 02:11, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello! I randomly stumbled across your front page. I love the statement on advertisements and was wondering if I could copy that, in whole or in part, for the wiki on which I work? --mnenyver 12/04/08

[edit] The new tradeskill jewelry sets
I did a bad thing Tailor's Inspiration (Jewelry Set) paired with Tailor's Choker. Is there any hope for me? Gnomie 11:29, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- I personally don't see what's bad about it. The only issue I have is that (in my understanding) all the different dropped pieces can drop from any of the tradeskill instaces, and not just the clockwork one. For that, I would go with a ==Note== or ==Drop Locations== and state that instead of going with the class adventure set piece-type table. That and the fact that it's not a reward from the quest (as is listed in the choker), but rather a possible drop from a chest at the end of those instances. Also, the use of "Jewelry Set" -- I believe the current method is to use Armor Set for all set types, regardless of whether it is true armor or whether it is what is normally considered jewelry. --lordebon 15:45, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes it's armorset for all set's since the equipinformation template can handle that one. Tailor's Insight (Armor Set) for example.
- I think both would end up in the same look of the equipments, so i would rename Tailor's Inspiration (Jewelry Set) to Tailor's Inspiration (Armor Set)
- -- Chillispike 15:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- More like this? Tailor's Inspiration (Armor Set)? Gnomie 01:44, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Frostfell
Is there a way to make the Frostfell timeline NOT show up on Frostfell quests unless they're specifically added as part of the template? The 2006 timeline is automatically appearing on Frostfell quests for 2008 when the Quest template is filled in and it's clearly not 2006.
- So change the timeline template? Template:Frostfell_Timeline --Uberfuzzy 13:18, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Credit templates
Hey, can you check out the credit templates for a sec? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it seems like any page with a template for The Brasse or EQ2Traders doesn't go to the URL linked, just to the main page. But the templates both state that they're supposed to go to a URL if one is supplied or the main page if one isn't.--Kodia 14:11, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- http://www.thebrasse.com/game-news/183 for example works fine. -- Chillispike 14:31, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Right, so I copied TheBrasse template and changed nothing and inserting a URL for EQ2 Traders defaulted to the top level of the site. So what's different between the two? What am I missing? I'm at a loss.--Kodia 14:45, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- The template works kinda the problem is the linktext for traders need a =
- http://www.thebrasse.com/game-news/183 to check the template => works
- http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article => works
- => doesn't work because of the =
- To fix it the Eq2traders template needs the http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/article_page.php?article as a default text and you just added the number of the artice like:
- g32
- -- Chillispike 15:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- would have also worked --Uberfuzzy 15:46, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Wow, those are hairy ugly, aren't they. Okay, thanks for the update.--Kodia 17:02, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Public raid
While looking at the instance normalization template, I noticed that it defaults to X2 difficulty for public raid. Seeing as there is a grand total of one public raid, and it scales from heroic through x4... can we just trash that part and go with a flat "Public Raid" or even get rid of that category entirely from that template? It's picky, but also a quick and easy fix. --lordebon 07:50, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] User Javascripts
Heya Uberfuzzy. I know there's user customized CSS, but does the software allow user customized javascript (ie User/monoco.js or User/common.js) by chance? --lordebon 21:36, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, User:username/<skin_name_in_all_lowercase>.js, but sadly no User/common.js. You can copy it to all the other skins you use (how often do you switch between them at a wiki?) or if you want it to affect all skins in all wikis everywhere on wikia, you can put it at
http://www.wikia.com/wiki/User:Username/global.js(same for css too, /global.css) --Uberfuzzy
21:47, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Excellent. I wanted to do some development on better hide/show behavior (ie, more extensible / createable) and being able to edit it for just myself is what I'd need to do that. --lordebon 22:38, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
[edit] wiki update?
By the look of it there was a mediawiki update.
- On a preview of a edit is now a big red box on top of page, Looks nice :)
- Preloads and edit Information when a new article is started is not showing atm :(
-- Chillispike 17:19, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Not mediawiki update, thats still coming in a few weeks. Just some css changes by Wikia to improve the editing window. I've made some changes to counteract the new article part. let me know if theres anything else thats no longer working as expected --Uberfuzzy 01:14, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Preloads still don't seem to be showing up for me, cleared the cache on the CSS and there's nothing above the "Show Editing Tips" line where they used to be. --lordebon 01:31, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] #if and categories
I think this is the best place to ask why the following happens :/
One of the recent mediawiki features was that categories get moved to a own window if you edit a article, Normaly it's working fine, but it doesn't work with the if funktion 100%. Feature is actually that you can add a page to a category without editing the whole page, but the side effect is that the categories get moved to the new window.
- For example if i go to Template:EquipInformation and do View source the second line looks like:
- -->{{#if:{}|}}<!--
- Look and code makes 100% sense there.
- -->{{#if:{}|}}<!--
- But if i go to User:Chillispike/DevTemplate and do edit, then i suddenly get the following:
- the second line looks like:
- -->{{#if:{}|}}<!--
- and the Category part shows:
- <includeonly></includeonly>
- Look and code makes 0% sense now.
- the second line looks like:
The odd thing is i have to restore the top lines every time, even i only want to do a tiny typo fix :(
The other thing is it only happens when the #if only adds a category, when the #if has to show category and a text then the cateogry part doesn't get moved.
Q: Do i miss something or is it a bug?
--
(Talk) 13:40, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- prove of the bug, i only added a line on top and saved the page the result is the this diff on my devtemplate
- --
(Talk) 14:08, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, super annoying problem, (it broke many sites badly before they fixed that), thats why the category thing doesnt touch most namespaces, it only works on NS:0, NS:USER, and NS:IMAGE. you can disable the feature for your self in your preferences (its something like 'disable category tagging'), so that when you edit a page, it doesnt try to gank out any category code and move it around for you. the other option, would be to move that subpage template out from a NS:USER subpage and make it an actual template, that would make it not touch the text as you edit it. i dont think anyone will mind if you do. i'm still debating if the feature is a good idea for this wiki in general. they tell me some fixes are coming next week(?)/"soon" that greatly improve how/when it removes the text from article (so that it will only touch free standing category code that people would have likely typed by hand, not touch anything inside parser functions, like that if, or what ever else strange wiki voodoo people do) --Uberfuzzy 17:39, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you! I just deactived that feature so i don't run into on other pages.
- The only other kind of problem i saw with category tagging enabled is that you don't see template generated categories in the category window on a actile page. Which isn't really helpfull if you use a template and have to save the page to view the categories instead of seeing em in the preview :/.
- --
(Talk) 18:31, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, it a neat idea in theory, and has uses for lots of new users and simple wikis, but it does seem to cause problems for people that tend to do coding of wikis, or places (like here), that do alot of categories via templates. --Uberfuzzy 18:50, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] EquipInformation update?
Hiya!
I played around with the Template:EquipInformation in my DevTemplate.
- changes i made in my devtemplate atm
- I removed the green haste since it's a blue stat now.
- The Green skills have the first letter in uppercase like Focus instead of focus
- I allso tryed to sort Crush, Slash and pierce
- I used the Template:EquipmentEffect as subtemplate for the blue effects to reduce the page size and it's easier to add new blue stats this was since you have to write the blue stat only once to get the link to the category and the category.
- I allso added the edc = Extra Dodge Chance, mitinc = Mitigation Increase, healbase = Base Heal Amount and hcritbonus = Heal Crit Bonus
Would it be possible to update the template? (i would but it's locked hehe)
--
(Talk) 15:44, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've taken a look at what you've done and I like the changes. I think it all works and seems to appear like it should. I'll unlock the template for three days for the corrections to be made by you so Uberfuzzy can try and swim through the tidal wave of work he has going on right now.--Kodia 17:12, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- OOO, nice work there. I dont remember if there was a reason whyy we didnt move that effects stuff to a subtemplate, guess we'll find out if something breaks. that template is a mass of ancient code, your very brave for trying to clean it/improve it. --Uberfuzzy 18:21, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks ^^ I updated the template and the docs.
Could you please protect Template:EquipmentEffect so on one can edit it?
And i would like to update Template:Link2LootDB with my suggestion from Template talk:Link2LootDB if it's ok (and if proction get's changed).
--
(Talk) 11:15, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Template:EquipmentEffect now protected to sysop level, infinite time. Template:Link2LootDB is now unprotected until the 12th of this month.--Kodia 19:52, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks again! Update of Template:Link2LootDB is done.
I had to modify the suggested code because it didn't work for items :/
The search for items works now and mob/zones link directly to page, if the page exists at lootdb. If that should be a problem i have a solution for mobs and zones allready prepared too.

[edit] Recent Problem with Search
Hi,
I've just noticed a problem, thought i would bring it to your attention. It seems to only have occurred since the mediawiki update, but im not sure.
The search now seems to be case sensitive. For instance, searching for "Language of the Dust" (w/o speechmarks) reveals the page intended, but searching for "language of the dust" reveals nothing, no results at all. This is recreatable with some things (eg Conflict Among the Kobolds), but not with others (eg Steamfont Mountains).
Just thought I should point it out. Nice work on the wiki btw, it really is excellent.
Cheers, Obiphil
[edit] Cron/Timed auto-purge?
Hey Uberfuzzy... does wikia have a cron or ability to purge a page daily? If not, would it be acceptable to them for a user to set up a cron to purge a page, or is there some other way to prevent caching? If we're going to be using Template:TSODaily on the front page we need some way of either preventing it from caching the date calculation (meaning higher server load since it'd do it every time) or a way to run a cron to purge it nightly shortly after midnight pacific (which is when the DD updates in game). If wikia doesn't have it, I have access to a server that I can probably set up to do it, if it would be acceptable to them. --lordebon 02:53, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- /Poke. --lordebon 18:21, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, now i see what your talking about (the link was broken, had no idea what template). hmm, no pages arent purged until they changed (though, anything like a red/blue link change counts as a change). no, wikia doesnt do that kind of thing. I can setup something to auto purge it, but that would kind be a bad idea to have that on the mainpage like that. could it be put on some page thats linked off the mainpage? --Uberfuzzy 23:35, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, when I /poke'd I fixed the link. And I think the template would basically stay as it is now, but be transcluded onto the mainpage (in whatever way we decided to go with). What would be the conditions of the autopurge? Would it be timed (like a cron) or would it be on a on-view kind of thing? --lordebon 00:54, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Update today? (June 16)
Do you happen to know if anything was changed on the wikia backend today? Specifically, in regards to the floating save/preview/summary bar? I'm finding that in IE6 (/sigh, forced to use it at work) the bar is not properly following when I scroll. Indeed, it's vanishing entirely (or going off-screen perhaps?) when I scroll with a mouse wheel. The only way I can get it up is to scroll down far enough so that it would stop floating (ie down to below the editing area) and then manually scroll with the on-screen scroll bar. It only happens on pages long enough for the bar to try to float -- not when you first edit but after a preview. I think it's going too far down as I scroll, since when I scroll up I can sort of get a glimpse of it. It wouldn't be *that* bad if it didn't stay invisible once I got to the point where it stays put, but instead the mouse wheel is making it stay hidden (but now it seems to be hiding where it belongs, just not visible). Only the scrollbar on the side using the mouse brings it back, and then only until I use the mouse wheel again. Could you look into it for me? --lordebon 20:10, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Not today, but yesterday, some changes were made. blah, i see it too in ie6. yeah, i'll file a ticket and poke someone. --Uberfuzzy 21:06, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Seems fixed as of yesterday-ish. Muchos gracias. --lordebon 12:58, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

- I was referring to the scrolling issue with the floating summary / save page / preview bar in IE6, are you referring to the bit below (caching in IE)? In regards to that, I'm seeing the correct zone in IE now, but we also made changes to the template so I can't be sure that the issue is gone until a day passes and we don't change the template (and then see if it updates properly). --lordebon 13:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Caching in IE
Hey there fuzzy... I wanted to ask if wikia caches pages differently for different browsers. Users are reporting some odd caching issues in IE with the new main page void shard display. It seems like purging the subtemplate is not updating the main page, and even purging the main page isn't working properly. Is there a correlation between the skill ability and the chance of harvesting a rare? Example my worst skill is 533, in trips around the graveyard I get 2 to 9 rares for 35+ nodes. Prior to the spring expantion to get my transmuting from 0 to 450 I figure I need 6200 rares. In the last 3 days I have gathered 257 T1 rares. If this keeps up I can do it in 74 days. It cost 24 coppers to make a mastercrafted item, and it makes about .45 powders. for every powder it makes one combine and cost 6 CP. It takes about 8 combines to get a skill up. It will cost about 1.7 PP to level one up, pretty cheep considering a tinkerer can level up for O CP by selling everything back to the merchants. The only problem is keeping the guild depot filled and the harvesting fills it more than enough for me and others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bruf (talk • contribs) 11:32, 13 July 2009 (UCT)
- The short answer to your question is yes, your skill does affect your chance of harvesting a rare. The long answer is that the way it does so is not as simple as you might like. The way harvesting works is that there are two harvesting "tables" -- basically the sets of probabilities of what you might get. There is the normal harvesting table, which for say a root node might be something like 60% chance of just 1, 25% chance of 3, 10% chance of 5, 3% chance of a rare, 2% chance of 10+a rare. Then for example the game would roll a from 1 to 100 and the number would translate into one of those probabilities (ie a 99 or 100 would be a 10+rare). This is the table that you normally harvest from.
- Now, as your skill increases and reaches a certain amount above the minimum skill for that tier, you begin to gain a chance to roll on the bonus table. This bonus table has slightly better numbers; to use the hypotheical from above, the bonus table might be 35% chance of just 1, 35% chance of 3, 20% chance of 5, 6% chance of a rare, 4% chance of 10+a rare. Again, these numbers are just a made up example. Now, lets say you're harvesting T8 which requires 340 skill. Your skill is at 530. Lets say that the minimum to roll on the bonus table is 390, and that for every 10 points above that you get a 1% chance to roll on the bonus table instead of the normal table, capped at 50%. So, at 530 you would have a (530-390)/10: 14% chance to roll on the bonus table.
- So now, every time you go to harvest the game rolls two dice. The first from 1 to 100 determines IF you roll on the bonus table. In this example, if that hidden roll is an 87 out of 100 or higher, you get to use the bonus table. The second roll then determines what you actually get. IE, if your two roll are 89, 78 then you would roll on the bonus table (89>87) and a 78 would correspond to a pull of 5. If your first roll was a 79 instead, you would roll on the regular table (79<87) and your 78 would correspond to a pull of only 3. It's a rather complex system, but it has been explained in pretty good detail by the tradeskill Developer. Now, we don't know any of the specific numbers, or even exactly how skill above the minimum translates into chance at rolling on the bonus table, but it does give you a good idea as to why you pull more rares in lower tiers while not pulling just rares and just 5s/10+1's in T1. --lordebon 12:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Waypoints have disappeared?
Uber - my apologies for emailing you - but it's not clear how to post a question. In the last two days I've lost the ability to see the clickable waypoints in Eq2 Wiki. I've checked on two computers and on the in game browser, Firefox 3.5, and Win Explorer. Do you know what happened and how to fix it?
Thanks, --98.110.226.245 20:06, 18 July 2009 (UTC) Patjab@gmail.com Puddinwine - Vox --98.110.226.245 20:06, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- i can confirm that the boxes dont appear in the ingame browser nor in ie6, but in ff 3.0.11 they are there --Vraeth 21:01, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
- hmm, i was wondering how long it would be until that code broke. i'll see if i can get it rewritten soon.--Uberfuzzy 04:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry for this Question, but why supporting a 8 year old browser at all?
- ie6nomore
- For my expierence the IE6 caused very often problems (on many websides) so i switched to Firefox 3.5 and IE7/8.

- I am currently running Firefox 3.5.2 and the waypoint grabber will not work unless I am logged in (I use Monobook when logged in, if that means anything to anyone). I think I lost the non-logged-in ability to grab the wp icon around the same time as Puddiwine.
- Having said that, hubby is devoted to IE no matter the security risks, and has never been able to grab the wp icon to work in ANY version of IE. He does not have an account, therefore uses nothing more than the default skin with his IE (and a lot of note paper). Janze-Nek 20:51, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work on folks that aren't logged in. My guess would be that there is something in the code that generates ads when you are not logged in that is messing with the copy-button code. Maybe it's missing the hook to load the code? Unfortunately I do not know where the different code for logged-in vs not logged-in is, that may be something only a staff-person like Uberfuzzy can get to. As for supporting IE6... I have to use some computers that only have IE6 at work, unfortunately many places still have not made the upgrade to IE7 or 8 yet, business-wise. Looking at W3C's data, IE6 is still hanging in at ~15% share (not sure what the share statistics would be here at wikia). So as annoying as it is, you cannot fully count it out just yet. --lordebon 23:40, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
IE(all) is about 1/3rd of the total traffic, and IE6 is about 14 to 15% of the IE traffic. --Uberfuzzy 09:40, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
now they dont show up while editing in ff 3.5.3 otherwise they are there. another maybe related thing is what i wrote on the admins talk page, is the menu missing for templates during editing --Vraeth 16:30, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Heads Up
See ya in two weeks.--Kodia 03:43, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, we saw that come up on the feed. its being looked into. its not just wikia getting these ads, its all over the internet. no one is happy about it. --Uberfuzzy
