Before you begin: Consider getting the A Gathering Obsession, Part IV quest to simultaneously complete. Ensure you compensate for the additional severed briarwood required by both quests. Also, as with all quests in the craftsman timeline, choose your reward carefully, first checking the broker, guild depots or other organic sources for the recipe you should select as your reward.

What does this information mean?

Required[]

  • L30+ Tradeskill Profession

Starting the Quest[]

Quest starters are Trades Coordinators:

Steps[]

  1. Harvest 10 severed briarwood from Zek, the Orcish Wastes and 10 severed briarwood from Enchanted Lands.
    • by harvesting 'wretched arbor' and 'marred arbor'.
  2. Return to the Grandmaster.
  3. Scribe the Apothecary's Handbook of Chemical Testing for Pests given to you by the Grandmaster and craft two termite tested briarwood using the recipe received, 20 severed briarwood, and 8 glimmering candle (for both combines).
  4. Return to the Grandmaster for your reward.

The NPC will warn you that crafting the test up is unusually difficult, which is correct. While not overwhelmingly hard, this task follows some special rules. In particular, countering a crafting event while doing the test does not appear to have the usual beneficial effects. It is thus recommended that you craft more defensively than for a normal crafting task.

Rewards[]

  • Tradeskill Experience (20% @ level 30 w/20% tradeskill bonus)
  • +500 Faction with your city's crafting faction
  • One advanced book level 30-39 for your tradeskill class or Provisioner Mastery volume 2 for Provisioners.
  • As of LU44, one artisan cloak for your class (example: Cloak of the Sage). This can also be bought from the Grandmaster if you did the quest before LU44.
