This quest serves as an introduction to the Sage of Ages, a central character in the original story for the Shattered Lands. Scholar Demini originally believes the Sage is a myth, but after you complete this quest for the journal, he is convinced that the Sage is real and asks you to find him.
You will eventually find and rescue the Sage with the Maiden's Gulch: Rescue of the Sage quest which is available at level 45 and is a prerequisite to learning the Draconic language.
