As a bit of a spoiler for folks... you can kill any rats for any part of the quest, even for the Rat King. So don't beat yourself up chasing giant rats throughout Norrath. Chomsky 15:47, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Funny don't you think that the task is "Kill 10 rats"? It's sort of a running joke on the monotony of some quest types and the lack of originality that some games have in sending people off on quests that seem more like grinding rather than true "questing". :)--Kodia 15:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

I did this quest on the morning of April 2, 2008, with no trouble, but I also did it before any server reset (I don't know if the servers were reset or not as I logged off after completing the quest).--Kodia 15:05, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Rat locations in the Commonlands Edit

Okay so, being that you can kill ANY rat for any part of the quest...

There is an abundance of scourge rats south of the Spire Level 14-15. ( -3, -48, -107 ) /waypoint -2.83, -47.55, -107.22

Also, there are some lower level rats outside of The Sprawl gate that are level 11.

Both of these spawns are in the Commonlands and are easy to get to from the dock.

I suggest spending 3 gold on SOW on the market for those of you whose characters don't already have the spell. It comes in handy, as you have to run back and fourth a lot. Take the Spire from Enchanted Lands to Commonlands and back for turn in.

• A quick way to perform this quest is to use the Spires in The Enchanted Lands and in The Commonlands; kill the "Scourge Rats" that inhabit The Commonlands to meet the quest requirements.
• Another fast way is to use the bell to go to Antonica, and then enter the Peat Bog, kill your rats, and head back. Repeat until done.
