Let's talk about it[]

What should be shown on this page?
I would say to make only links at Adornments to each Adornment by Tier category for a overview of the tiers, without puting to much effect into each tier.
The effect page should only be a overview of each effect category.
The best place for Adornment overview would be pages like Earring Adornments but not makeing it to a huge long list, rather make it compact. -- Chillispike 16:56, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Q:What should be shown on this article page ? -- Chillispike 03:07, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Given how short the adornment tables are now, I can't help but wonder if having them all on one page would be such a bad thing now. To be honest, though, I'm somewhat at a loss. The purpose of the article should be to tell people more about adornments. It should serve as a way for the Category page description to remain short and succinct. What could be added to or changed on this page to for descriptive purposes in that regard?--Kodia 15:26, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Far too much repetition on this page. All the Tiers could be condensed from separate sections into a pair of short tables like the Brittanic Lore site has. Should be some discussion (or another table) on which classes make which slot adornments. The Tier n Adorments by Slot pages tables could use a revamp, they're rather unwieldy with loads of whitespace and the colors are kind of ugly in their current implementation. Harsh, I know, but honest. So, basically an intro about it, the tiers/materials table, then who makes what. I like what Chill has done with the Hand Adornment pages, those look good to me although I'd go with colored backgrounds (say light green) and the value being the link instead of just an X, plus go with dark grey instead of black (black is too dark and damages the visibility of the table lines, imho) --lordebon 19:04, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
The current article page is only a copy/paste from other pages, so i will revamp this page too with some links and information.
I thinked like .. i want a good adornment for a slot i revamp the other pages with that focus.
Of course it would be possible to show the information in many differnt ways, but that allso would mean that there is a lot fo work needed to update the same adornment on every page, that's why i went for the X tbh.
I could change the look of the X but it would mean that every Value would be fat look then if i don't change every page again :/
The slot by tier pages show nothing that is important really, since it doesn't say if there is a upgrade or not, so i'm not sure if i will do anything with them since there is just 3 of 8 pages there atm too.
hmm yeah dark grey would works too and I could color the values too but that will need some work hehe.

Q: How about that look now? -- Chillispike 10:34, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

I like the look of the hands adornment page, and that looks to be the design carried through all of the adornments info now (at least the ones I've looked at). I'm not fond of the Brittanic Lore site's monster table, so I wouldn't want to see any future updates go in that direction. For another example, you can check out the T7 adornment applet at www.eq2ref.com/adornments/index.php - it only does query-based displays, but you can do a 'display all' sort of query if you want the exhaustive list. Thanks for putting this info up, it's much appreciated!
-- Piqat 14:15, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes all Slot Adornment pages have the same look, because it's easier to handle and to update them (if a tier get's added or new Adornments get added.
A big side would be nice yes, I guess a sort option would be nice for such a side right? Hmm I think i can make such a side if i tweak some of the Templates.
How about Adornments/Overview ?
-- Chillispike 20:12, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I like the look as well, although I still think the X's should be replaced with values to make the pages more valuable (that way you don't have to load up the individual pages). It shouldn't make it that big, the biggest would be say 123-456 which you could put on two lines to keep it shorter (ie 123<br>- 456). In regards to your comment Piqat, that would be something much tricker to do here on a wiki, and I kind of like the current breakdown since many times you're looking for an adornment for a particular slot. --lordebon 20:14, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I understand that the Value would be nice, but the problem (Mostly with Proc items) is that the dmg is depenting on the players stats as far as i know.
The switch for that on the Template is really no prob and easy done.
The most missing Information atm are all the stats for that change and it would affort a lot of work to update them all on changes.
I wonder if it would be worth to show all the stats/effects kinda. Named or Quest rewards show the Item you can get from/for it, but no other Information about the Item it self in the most cases.
I think the most important Information of those pages is What is the highest level of Adornment you can get, Like +1 spell crit for Symbols exsists only as T7 Adornment.
A huge table with a sort option can be done and is not that tricky if the Template get's changed a little.
Anyway it's not a problem to show the stats instead of the X for the Pages that got added allready.

Enjoy Adornments/Overview, takes a little to load (141 Lines*up to 12 Links each Line ~1600 Links on that side) -- Chillispike 14:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Looks good, didn't realize we had the sortable table extension installed, hehe. In regards to the stats though... that was mainly what I was talking about, the damage ones are less important in that regard (although it's possible to do it, just examine them as a L1 char to keep them all to their minimum values without any special abilities). --lordebon 15:49, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Temporary Adornments[]

I know the following 2 temporary Adornments but i think there are more of them

  • Smoldering Waterstone
    • duration 15 minutes
    • classes Fighters and Scouts
    • Level 70
    • Text: This item can be used to sharpen ranged slot weapons.
  • Sathirian Scroll of Combat
    • duration 30 minutes
    • classes Mages and Priests
    • Level 75
    • Text: This item can be used to enchant a Primary or Two Hand Weapon temporarily

Reason why i ask:
I would like to get an overview of the temporary adornments to i can see what i would change in the code of the current template or if it would better to write a own template for the temporary adornments.

  • Archer of Di'Zok Flashstone
    • duration 30 minutes
    • classes Fighters and Scouts
    • Level 75
    • Text: This item can be used to enchant ranged slot weapons temporarily
  • Rilissian Rager Slipstone
    • duration 30 minutes
    • classes Fighters and Scouts
    • Level 75
    • Text: This item can be used to enchant a Primary or Two Hand Weapon temporarily

All the temp adorns (to my knowledge) are RoK faction recipes and so should be mixed in this list: EQ2TC. --lordebon 23:20, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
Woot looks like Daybreak (or SOE) has changed the temp adorns when they added more of em.
They are looking really similar to the normal adorns, which means we prolly don't need to the tempadorn template "anymore" or rather i can update the adorninformation template to handle all the adorns

Tinkered Adornment Removers[]

Tinkered Adornment removers are called Basic Trichromatic Adornment Dislodger ( \aITEM -77367676 -1411294439:Basic Trichromatic Adornment Dislodger\/a ) and Advanced Trichromatic Adornment Dislodger ( \aITEM 310256619 759694953:Advanced Trichromatic Adornment Dislodger\/a ). The Basic removes one yellow, red, or green adornment (user's choice) and destroys the item (and any adornments not removed). The Advanced removes all yellow, red, and/or green adornments and destroys the item (along with any white adorns that were on the object). Necrotherian (talk) 03:13, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your input i've update the article to reflect this information. -- User:Chillispike  User_talk:Chillispike 11:04, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

Adornment Restrictions[]

Not sure where else to put this for the moment but going to mention it here until I have a chance to test it out more.

I never really bothered with going after super great gear so I just now noticed this quirk with adornments.

You can't put two of the same Mending or Blasting type white adornment onto the same weapon. You can put them on separate weapons and equip those weapons but the game won't allow you to adorn the same weapon.

I'll mess with it for different tiers of the mending and blasting runes and maybe try stacking like a T5 mending with a T6 mending and see if that's possible. Figured I'd mention it here for the moment so I don't forget about it. Jado818 (talk) 21:30, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Superb Green/Prismatic Adornment Dislodgers[]

The following paragraph in the Adornment Reclamation section contains false/out-dated information:

Adorning & Adorment Removers (NPC Type) sell Superb Green Adornment Dislodger for 2p
and Superb Prismatic Adornment Dislodger for 15p, both dislodgers don't turn the
 item into NO-TRADE.
Both can be buyed for Loyalty Tokens as well, but for 5 Token you can get 75p and
buy a lot more dislodgers that way.

The main reason for mentioning these 2 specific dislodgers seems to be the false/out-dated statement that "both dislodgers don't turn the item into NO-TRADE". Unless there is some other reason to single them out for mention here, that paragraph should be removed. Otherwise, it's enough to acknowledge that these items exist by just linking to Category:Adornment Dislodger (Item Type).

The tip about it being more cost-effective to use Loyalty Point Tokens to get platinum coins instead of the dislodgers is helpful, but I think it would be more useful to have that mentioned on the specific pages for those relevant items instead of on this page. Also, a link to A small bag of platinum coins should be added to the note in order to clarify how to actually get the 500p.

--Rdent (talk) 02:00, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

I rewrote the text a little. I wanted to keep the dislodgers because they are still ingame.
the words "don't turn the item into NO-TRADE" are still valid, because the items are NO-TRADE just the Adorments get the Tag Hierloom.
