If he spawned his heroic pets, just do a pet pull and kill them off one by one until they are all gone. Same with the fish around the area.

When the area is clean, here's the strat for the group:

Tank takes frontal aoe - everyone rushes behind boss into the water. It's good if tank has an aoe blocker (in our case the paladin used divine aura and then that got us in the water). When you get in the water - just dps and stay alive through those aoe's.
