At a certain point in the fight, Izzak will cast a buff and summon a bunch of runes on the floor. The buff, "Power of the Runes", causes him to absorb all damage. The circles cast "Discharging Runes" which hits you for about 75K once every second.
Notice what color the runes on the floor are, and remember how you activated three rune pedestals prior to starting this fight. What you have to do is pull Izzak to the rune pedestal of the same color as his floor runes. There will be a small glowing circle on the floor in front of the pedestal; pull him into it to dispel his buff. The game will emote that Izzak can be damaged again.
Aside from the part where you pull him around, he's tank n' spank.
