Sir Vallius Bayle was a knight, an adventurer, and a descendant (possibly if not probably the son) of the progenitor of his house, Bayle the Ethernaut.
As an adventurer, Sir Vallius is known to have traveled to "The Tower of Solus" and the heart of Neriak, City of Hate, as well as the subterranean continent beneath present-day Antonica known as Subtunaria. It was there that he discovered the Duchy of the Dead and encountered the legendary sword Soulfire, surrounded by Tier'Dal priests.
As the legend goes, when the holy men departed, Vallius crept up to touch the hilt of the sword. It spoke to him, saying:
- "I am Aeteok of the right hand of Theer and this is my gift to my other."
A crimson circle appeared before Vallius and then runes appeared. Vallius would not understand this vision until his time with the Order of Marr. It was then that High Lord William Taros shared his knowledge of Soulfire, and Vallius began his odyssey to learn the origin and purpose of the sword. His quest lasted a full quatrain. Vallius was responsible for delivering the Qeynos Claymore to the humans of Oceangreen, the village that later became Qeynos.
Speculation regarding Birth Year[]
It is often assumed that since Vallius was either the father or an immediate ancestor of Antonius I. If Vallius was Antonius I's father, his year of birth (assuming an age at death of approximately 80 and the ascension of Antonius I upon his father's death) could be calculated as approximately 2780. (This would be twenty years after the fall of the Combine Empire.)
