| The Runnyeye Goblins have long been subjugated by their evil eye taskmasters, forced to toil and do battle at the whim of their powerful overlords. They can often be found salvaging what others would call refuse and bringing it back to their underground forges to be reshaped into tools of war.
The Runnyeye Goblins settled Runnyeye Citadel beneath Bog Mountain in the former Misty Thicket during the Age of War, before the Rending had transformed Norrath. They had many altercations with the native halflings as well as with a local tribe of minotaur, the Gorehorn. When the evil eyes and nightbloods invaded the surrounding lands the goblins enlisted the aid of the evil eyes to finally defeat the Gorehorn, however they to would eventually be forced into slavery beneath the evil eyes. It was in the service of the evil eyes that the Runnyeye Goblins received their name. As described in History of the Runnyeye Goblins, Vol. III, a goblin named Gribble, possibly the current ruler of the Runnyeye Goblins, Overlord Baylzuthak, figured out a way to subvert the mental control that evil eyes place on their minions. In secret he began to teach his fellow Runnyeye how to control their own actions and in an event referred to as The Great Purge the goblins overthrew the evil eyes and in turn enslaved them as well as the Gorehorn and boarfiends. |
