The Sand elves are the descendants of the elves that remained in Takhis'Hiz when the rest of the Dal fled following the destructive anger of Solusek Ro that turned their once-fertile homeland into the Desert of Ro. Over millenia, they changed and grew distrustful of all outsiders.

Adventurers in the Desert of Ro have reported encounters with undead Sand Elves in the caves along the sea coast and in the ruins of a city beneath the sands.

Sand elves were seen originally in EQ1 and were Elddar who stayed to fight the sands and used geomancy to incorporate it into their bodies. There is some confusion between sand elves and Sul'dal, which are the follower of Anashti Sul and take their name from their goddess.
