It keep spawning and despawning. When he does so, he temporarly becomes unattackable. It's one of the rare mobs in the zone to NOT see invis.

The scorn reapers are connected with a group of 3 hatemongers. When the scorn reaper stretches out his hand he summons 3 hatemongers which will appear somewhere in his area. Not necessarily right near him however. We have seen them spawn some distant away, but within line of sight of the scorn reaper. Once you kill the scorn reaper, his group of the 3 hatemongers will despawn and stop respawning.

Consider having the tank target the scorn reaper and have a monk use Peel to bring the reaper to the raid, which stands outside the courtyard area with the mobs.
